Cells for Life offers our clients a range of services unmatched
by other clinics in Canada. There are facilities that store
substantial numbers of cord blood samples, but few have the
CFL experience of processing and storing samples within
their own labs. Since 1997, we have successfully stored close to 15,000 umbilical cord blood samples for parents
and care-givers who sought the added peace of mind that comes
with protecting their new-born baby's umbilical cord stem cells.
In addition to being the most established umbilical cord blood
processing and storage facility in Canada (with one owner since
1997), Cells for Life is one of only a few AABB-accredited facilities in the country.
The AABB (www.aabb.org), originally known as the American
Association of Blood Banks, supervises a rigorous, voluntary
accreditation process rather than a mandated inspection. Facilities
such as Cells for Life that choose to seek AABB accreditation
have a desire for, and commitment to, continuous improvement,
quality, and education.
At Cells for Life, client care is paramount.
Every client is offered face-to-face consultation and education
free of charge prior to storage, to discuss his or her particular
needs and questions. In addition, we encourage clients to
continue to discuss stem cell-related matters directly with
our staff via telephone, letters or email. Any client (or
healthcare professional) is most welcome to visit our facility
at any time. Our staff regularly provides education to physicians,
nurses, and the community at large.
